Documentaries … one idea that i have: i am very interested in alternative communities, communities that are creating a better environment for themselves and they are happening all over Europe, all over the world, really. This is something i want to look into because it is something that interests me as a person, as a human occupying a space on Earth. So, something like that … there is a message but it is not anything didactic but it is sort of like showing that people are taking the initiative to do something better for themselves.

I know only struggling artists and i think if you are a struggling artist - i know some creativity can be raised from hunger but when it becomes too tough and i think it is quite tough at the moment - [and] when we look at privatization methods not even only of our conservative parties but the socialist ones i am - being a socialist myself - very disappointed at the time being and i think some left-left socialist thoughts which were applied during the last decades are much more useful and i would love to see some socialists in Austria come back to their old traditions and rather start reforming themselves than starting reforming us [artists], really.

I think that as an artist and as a person - i think it is very important to be able to communicate through a common language with other people. But also, i think trying to create - i do not know, this might sound like a clichée - but [something] like a better world, like a little microcosm of people is very important for me. [By] now, i have not found a way yet to do so and i think that it is time for me to slowly move away from myself and sort of into something more collaborative and i am thinking of ways to do this. And, before i started working with video i was thinking that i want to do social documentaries and this is something in the back of my mind.

The i2010 Lissabon Guideline we can feel already and we do really regret … We know from … from the UK i know that, i know it from Scandinavia a bit: this guideline is talking a lot about “Public-Private Partnerships” and this slogan “Creative Industries”. So, what they are talking about is [to] create guidelines for the applied arts and any kind of creative business that helps to launch the EC as something very modern. So, creative industries are looked upon as a PR instrument for the EC. I have to say that our government [in Austria] also focusses on this a lot without taking into any consideration the needs of the free arts because free arts are not commercial arts. You can help a fashion designer to build a business but you would never correspond with any needs of experimental artists to make them - you know - be more free to produce what they want to produce.

I think there is more hope in private funding. I see more and more companies - international companies, especially - funding arts - visual arts … and new media … and cinema as well.

We know that a lot of money is in the building business - housing and building business. We have been fighting for ages to get a percentage of money from this business of construction to the arts. We have not received it. We have been discussing this for fifteen or twenty years. No move really was achievable - in Vienna. In one of the provinces we reached but not in Vienna.

Either you get friends to work for free or they could get some funding from some source but it would be very little, you have to be very low budget.
